What Are The Differences Between Hawk Track Brake Pad Compounds?

(Lea en español)

Hawk brake pads are formulated using different compounds based on their intended use. Their street performance pads, with selections in our Premium and Autocross/Track brake performance categories, are best compared by reviewing their friction levels and temperature ratings to find the product that properly meets your needs.

Comparing Performance

The Mu factor illustrates the pad material's friction level against the brake rotor surface as brake system temperature increases. The higher the Mu level, the more stopping power will be achieved for a given amount of brake pedal pressure.

A flat plateau of the Mu level across a wide temperature range indicates very consistent brake performance on track. Once the pad has warmed up to operating temperature, the driver's confidence in the brake zone is greatly improved due to the repeatability of the brake system's performance under race conditions.
