What Are The Differences Between Hawk Street Brake Pad Compounds?

(Lea en español)

Hawk brake pads are formulated using different compounds based on their intended use. Their street performance pads, with selections in our Premium, Performance Street and Autocross/Track brake performance categories, are best compared by reviewing their friction levels and temperature ratings to find the product that properly meets your needs.

Comparing Performance

The Mu factor illustrates the pad material's friction level against the brake rotor surface as brake system temperature increases. The higher the Mu level, the more stopping power will be achieved for a given amount of brake pedal pressure.

Brake pad fade is represented by the drop off in friction (Mu) along the curve as the pad material reaches elevated temperatures.

Also important to note, the increased performance at elevated brake temperature levels will likely result in increased noise and dust at lower operating temperatures.
