The MXW is Michelin's Ultra High Performance Summer tire designed for classic sports cars. Built for the unique needs of vintage powerhouses, the MXW preserves the characters of those original fitments. Blending technological innovations in compounding with era-accurate tread patterns, the MXW was designed to deliver traction in warm, dry and wet conditions.
Originally homologated for the Alpine A310, successor to the 1973 Monte Carlo Rally winning Alpine A110, the MXW brings modern compound technology to a classic performance tread pattern for a faithful recreation of performance history. The solid center rib ensures constant contact with the road’s surface and reactive, sporty handling for enthusiasts while tightly grouped tread blocks support drivers during aggressive handling. Individual siping and six circumferential grooves offer plenty of room to move water away from the tire's contact zone to let drivers hold on to all-important grip during wet maneuvering.
The internal construction of the MXW consists of two polyester plies in the tread area to balance handling response and ride comfort. Twin steel belts are reinforced by a polyamide wrap for high-speed durability.
