The NT555RII is Nitto's Drag Racing Radial tire developed for drag racers looking for acceleration focused performance at the dragstrip with the added utility of a streetable tire. NT555RII tires are designed with the versatility to allow drivers to drive back and forth to the track without requiring a trailer, while still delivering the traction and style of a dedicated drag racing tire. However, like all Drag Racing Radial tires, they are not intended to be driven on extremely wet roads with standing water, or in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

WARNING! As a dual-purpose competition tire, the NT555RII is designed with a reduced tread depth and a special tread rubber compound for optimal dry weather traction. Therefore, it is important that you frequently check the available tread depth, because like all competition tires, the NT555RII will wear out much sooner and offer less wet weather grip than regular passenger car tires. Never use NT555RIIs, or any tires, on the street if they are worn down to the wear indicator bars, i.e., the available tread depth is no more than 2/32nds of an inch. USE EXTREME CAUTION AND REDUCED SPEEDS WHEN DRIVING WITH THE NT555RII IN WET CONDITIONS.

The NT555RII takes a specialized race compound and molds it into a purpose-built drag radial tread pattern engineered to maximize grip and acceleration at launch. Its symmetric tread design has been optimized for track use and some light on-road driving. Extremely wide, low-void shoulders put more rubber in contact with the road and augment the fully continuous twin center ribs for non-stop dry traction. Two circumferential grooves provide reasonable mitigation for this type of tire against mildly wet conditions.

The tire's internal construction features a dual-ply polyester body casing joined with twin high-tensile steel belts and reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon cap ply to maintain the footprint size and shape for consistent performance capabilities.

NT555RII radials meet DOT requirements, however they are not recommended for driving in wet conditions where standing water is present and there is the risk of hydroplaning; drivers should drive cautiously at reduced speeds if they encounter these conditions. This is especially true of worn tires.
