The AVID Ascend GT is Yokohama's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for drivers of sedans, coupes, crossovers and minivans who want a refined ride and noise comfort combined with long life and confident all-season traction. The AVID Ascend GT is designed to deliver grip in dry, wet and wintry conditions, even light snow.

Yokohama BluEarth branding is used to identify an ecologically friendly series of tires that are designed to deliver environmentally, human and socially friendly solutions for drivers and their vehicles. AVID Ascend GT tires branded with the BluEarth symbol are identified on their Sizes and Specs pages.

The asymmetric pattern of the AVID Ascend GT helps optimize grip in all weather conditions, and the tread profile is specifically engineered to create a stable contact patch for improved traction and wear. The tread pitch variation and Outside Adaptive Shoulder Blocks are designed with a focus on noise attenuation for a quiet driving experience. Four deep, circumferential grooves utilize asymmetric widths to aid standing water evacuation through the footprint, while the inside shoulder features open notches to allow water to pass through. Yokohama's TriBLEND Compound Technology all-season compound utilizes a low-Tg polymer and high silica content for grip in inclement weather, and the Triple 3-D Sipes and notched tread blocks create the biting edges needed for light snow traction.

Internally, a polyester casing aids ride comfort and supports two wide, steel belts. A full nylon cover works with the square profile shape to help resist deflection under cornering loads for more controlled, predictable handling in dry and wet conditions while also providing high-speed capability.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R Reviews

Customer ratings show this track-focused tire delivers outstanding dry traction, with enthusiasts praising its race-like grip, consistent lap performance, and predictable handling at the limit. Reviewers highlight improved lap times and confidence in high-speed cornering, often comparing dry performance to dedicated racing slicks. Wet traction raises significant concerns, with users strongly advising against use in rain or below 60°F due to hydroplaning risks and drastically reduced grip. Treadwear aligns with extreme-performance expectations, typically lasting 2-5 track days before cording, though aggressive driving accelerates wear. Ideal for dedicated track use, it requires proper warm-up and pressure management to maximize its capabilities while emphasizing it’s unsuitable for daily driving or mixed conditions.

  • 116 positive
  • 2 negative

Customers overwhelmingly praise the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R's dry traction, with many scoring 9s and 10s for its "phenomenal grip," "predictable cornering," and consistent lap-after-lap performance on track. Reviewers highlight improved lap times, exceptional steering response, and confidence-inspiring stability during aggressive driving, noting they rival dedicated racing slicks. While requiring proper warm-up, the tire maintains grip through extended sessions with minimal fall-off, solidifying its reputation as a top-tier track performer.

...This tire is comparable or better to the NT01, but this tire is much more streetable...

I run a 275/35/18 square set-up on the racetrack. I have previously run Toyo RA1, R888, Nitto Nt-01, and Pilot Cup's. This tire is the best Tire I have ever experienced. Grip is comparable or better to the NT01, but this tire is much more streetable. I have run them in long sessions 45+ minutes and they had as much grip at the end as they did in the beginning. Every lap was within .20 seconds on a 1.40 average lap. I cannot wait till they bring out more sizes and more people get to experience this tire. Great Job Goodyear!

World class level dry grip, steering and braking response once warmed up.
These are NOT all season tires these are track tires, they can be driven in the rain but you'll have too be very careful.
I'd place these right there with Michelin's Cup tires in EVERY performance category.

...Although these do not last as long as the Cup 2s, they are definitely better in the dry and they are considerably less expensive. On track I was able to get almost a good second improvement on lap time...

So I have about 6K miles on these tires with 5 full track days and also driving on the street and they are ready to be replaced. All I have to say is 'WOW!'. Although these do not last as long as the Cup 2s, they are definitely better in the dry and they are considerably less expensive. On track I was able to get almost a good second improvement on lap time. On the street they work well and do not wander as much as the Cup 2. Sound is louder but this is to be expected. I will definitely be buying another set.

  • 44 negative

Customers report unacceptable wet traction, with many scoring 6 or below, noting the 3R becomes dangerously slippery even in light rain. Reviews highlight a tendency to hydroplane, slide unpredictably, and float on wet roads, with multiple warnings to avoid rain entirely. Tread depth and cold temps exacerbate issues, making wet performance a significant safety concern despite its track-focused design.

...I would NOT recommend driving in the rain. I've driven in the San Francisco fog and been worried. I've been sideways with no warning when it's below 60...

I'm on my second set of 3R tires. The GY SC 3Rs are superior to any other tire on the track when mounted on the Camaro. Good Year designed the 3Rs for the 1LE so naturally these tires track well. These tires do not ride well on the street. They're hard, bumpy and loud. I would NOT recommend driving in the rain. I've driven to the track in the San Francisco fog and been worried. I've been sideways with no warning when it's below 60. Driving a car with these tires below 40 would be a death trap!

If you're looking to street your ZL1 1LE I suggest the Michelin pilot 4s. I have them on my street wheels and they are much more street friendly. You will give up seconds on the track compared to the 3Rs though.

...In wet conditions, it's quite bad - so don't use it in the wet!...

This is a track tire and it does what it's supposed to do very well. In dry conditions, it's the best tire I've used. In wet conditions, it's quite bad - so don't use it in the wet! They do wear quickly but I typically get about 4 track days on them before the cords show. Great tire for what it's designed to do.

...Oh, don't try tracking them in the cold or wet. Bad idea.

These tires are incredible for the track. I'm talking road course/HPDE. They have outstanding grip and DO NOT fall off. They just keep gripping lap after lap. They're insanely good. The only downside is they only last 2-3 track days and you're cording the inner tire if you have a track alignment. So you will go through a few sets a year if you track about once a month. But boy do they make for fast lap times.

Oh, don't try tracking them in the cold or wet. Bad idea.

101 reviews mention "Treadwear"

  • 46 positive
  • 55 negative

Customers report rapid wear and premature cording, with many scoring 6 or below. Track use often results in cords showing after 2-3 days, requiring early replacement. Some noted less than expected mileage even with rotations, lasting only 100 laps or 3 sessions before tread depth became unsafe. While expected for track tires, wear rates left users disappointed in tread life.

...The tire was formulated for my big portly ZL1 and it does wear VERY fast on track, regardless of how much camber you dial into the suspension.

This has been my primary track tire setup for my ZL1 on Circuit of the Americas and it has performed much like a true racing slick. The tire was formulated for my big portly ZL1 and it does wear VERY fast on track, regardless of how much camber you dial into the suspension. This is a true track tire with a DOT approval stamp, do not buy this tire thinking it is for "spirited driving", this tire is to be used on the track and safe enough to be driven home carefully. This tire does not like temperatures below 60 degrees and essentially turn to glass when they are cold even when the ambient temperature is over 70. This tire will cause wrecks if they are driven by someone who does not understand these are DOT racing slicks with tread grooves.

All that being said, amazing track tire, unbelievable grip, seriously one of the best track tires I've driven on and I've driven on just about everything. The only step up from here is a true racing slick and that is IT, end of story. This tire beats the pants off the R888R, the NT01 and the Cup2 tire on the ZL1, again because it is formulated for this car and it's weight. Those same tires on other cars may do better than this one, I'm not 100% sure.
