On-Road All-Terrain tires are for drivers who want a combination of focused on-road refinement, with some light off-road capability and all-season versatility, including traction in light snow. On-Road All-Terrain tires -may be- branded with the M+S and three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbols are sometimes used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on light-duty 4WD trucks, crossovers and sport utility vehicles.

O.E. On-Road All-Terrain light truck tires are typically purchased as direct replacements for worn-out pairs/sets of the vehicle's original tires. They can also be used for other vehicle applications in complete sets of four, or axle pairs if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. tires' performance category and specifications.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the 3PMSF provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS Reviews

Enthusiasts celebrate the Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS for its exceptional dry traction, delivering razor-sharp steering response, relentless grip, and confident cornering that dominates autocross, track days, and HPDE events. Drivers praise its predictable limits and rapid warm-up, enabling aggressive lap times and podium finishes. Wet performance earns praise for decent grip on damp surfaces, though hydroplaning risks rise in standing water. Treadwear impresses for a 200TW tire, with many reporting consistent performance through multiple heat cycles and seasons, though heavy track use accelerates wear. A top pick for competitive drivers prioritizing outright speed and precision over longevity.

Much better wet traction than I expected...

Much better wet traction than I expected. Tires are great and the best performance tires i have ever used compared to the continentals and Michelin tires, but these are in a different group with a tread wear of 200 compared to 320 and 340 of the other tires.

...Tires are very predictable and stable. When they lose grip there is plenty of warning and its very linear, easy to control both oversteer and understeer smoothly.

Used mostly for light track use (private days at Club Motorsport and schools at NHIS). Tires are very predictable and stable. When they lose grip there is plenty of warning and its very linear, easy to control both oversteer and understeer smoothly. When driving on road they are great (basically noise is a non issue, grip is more than you will ever need), but I don't put a lot of miles on the car so experience is limited as far as wear goes (on street).

Wet grip is good for what these are (only had one track day in rain), absolutely not a tire I would push hard in the rain.

My car is very heavy and punishes the front tires as they are narrower than rears, and these tires have held up very well on the track.

Exceptional grip after heating up on 2 easy laps on a track day. Builds heat quicker than similar Goodyear F1 SC3 from last purchase. RE71RS creates good traction and stick when needed. I used camber bolts at -2.2 negative front and OEM -1.7 rear. The left side tires at the FIRM last month broke in very quickly on a 5 lap Track Spring afternoon. It is a rough surface and tight right hand turns. Left front side wall rubbed off the “V. However the wear was normal considering the track configuration. Rear tires never broke loose.

I rotated the tires before running four - 20 minute fast lap sessions at Homestead Miami last weekend. That track is going to wear the right side tires more which evenly rested the sidewall tire wear. Started at 29 lbs front left - and 28 lbs right that heated up to 41 lbs first session. The rear set at 30 lbs cold heated to 36 lbs. SonI adjusted the fronts to 30 lbs front left and 28 lbs front right with 29 lbs left and right rear. Better results on track 1:47. 436. Tires hot were front right 38 left front 37 and rear 36. It was 84 F sunny with breeze.

When I do track sprints or autocross I’ll test 28 lbs all the way around and adjust accordingly. This Mustang has PP1 OEM shocks and springs. No tune no Nannie’s. I added a 35 mm Eibach front sway bar set to softest and rear 25 mm sway bar set in the middle of 3 holes or neutral.

I’d appreciate your analysis and suggestions for better sidewall tire wear otherwise these tires may only last a year. Thanks John D’Angelo CFR SCCA

Customers praise the RE-71RS's treadwear, with many scoring 9s and 10s for durability through multiple track days, autocross events, and heat cycles. Reviews highlight consistent performance over 20+ sessions, even wear patterns, and longer-than-expected lifespan for a 200TW tire. While some note quicker wear under heavy track use, most emphasize it’s a worthy trade-off for class-leading grip and reliability in competitive scenarios.

...My expectations on tread wear might be based on how hankooks wear better vs these tires... Hankooks wear better, but def don't stick like these re-71's...

Really love these tires. My expectations on tread wear might be based on how hankooks wear vs these tires. I would GLADLY use these tires over hankooks. My mustang is lowered and supercharged, so I give my tires a workout. Hankooks wear better, but def don't stick like these re-71's. I would recommend these to anyone with a muscle car.

...Tread wear is as good as other 200TW tires I have used.

Excellent tires for track/HPDE use. They come up to temp quickly, and maintain performance throughout a 20 minute session. They are predictable, easy to drive. Great traction in the dry. On a wet track (no standing water) they are great, largely because they do come up in temperature even when wet and cold. Tread wear is as good as other 200TW tires I have used.
