Consumer Reviews for Hypertech Max Energy Sport Power Programmer

  • June 18, 2014

Most mazdaspeed 3 owners go with a Cobb AP but i decided to go with the hypertech for ease of use. I only plan on doing a few bolt ons and this seems to handle that just fine. The 0-60 restriction removal made a HUGE difference and the car pulls a lot stronger to redline. Its does feel a bit quicker all around and i like the fact that is supports most intakes so it properly calibrates the MAF sensor.
If you plan on going crazy with your Mazda with a different turbo or every bolt on possible i would go with a COBB AP because of being able to tune every engine parameter yourself where this is limited. If i had one complaint, i wish you could moniter the engine.

LOVE IT. Must have upgrade for Mazdaspeed 3. The extra 68 HP is fantastic, but my favorite feature is the removal of the 0-60 restriction. BIG SMILE launching this car now. First gear is completely transformed. I no longer have to slip the clutch to keep the revs up for max power - just drop it and feather the throttle to control wheel spin all the way through first gear. My clutch and I thank Hypertech. Michelin does too as now i'll be burning off more rubber. Paired with Corksport intake this upgrade is SWEET. Best bang for the buck you can get. Tirerack should bundle this with a new tire package because you're going to need it!

Also pulls hard all the way up to redline instead of dropping off at 6K with stock map.

BUY THIS. Install is CAKE once you get all the updates from Hypertech.

Got my HyperTech Max Energy Sport tuner the next day after ordering it which was a nice surprise. After a quick internet update, I installed it and the before-and-after change is dramatic. Low to mid range grunt (torque) feels stronger. Throttle response is also sharper and there's no initial hesitation when moving off from a stop at low rpms. Took the car on a 4hr road trip this weeknd and gas mileage was about the same as what I saw before installing the tuner (22-23mpg). Love the fact that I can adjust the rpm limit (+ or - 500rpm) and the temperature that the cooling fans cut in at. All in all, a great product for the money!

This is a great product to use after you've done most of the N/A bolt-on's out there. This means Intake and exhaust modifications excluding Cams, Heads, Stroker-kits and FI. The Hypertech Premium Fuel Tune flash helped smooth out my idle with my N/A mods. This is something my UTEC could not do due to the OEM ECU constantly trying to default back to factory settings from the built-in wide band even after a custom tune. After the flash the car seems to pull allot harder though out the power band.

The 0-60mph removal is a great feature that gets rid of the accelerator pedal delay by 25%. The installation of this product only took 5 minutes to flash though the OBD2 port connection. The unit guides you trough the process. All you have to do is answer Yes or No with the control pad arrows. The box comes with a USB cabal, OBD2 jumper, Control module and CD-Rom disk. Inside the disk you'll find update software and video instructions. Before doing the installation to the vehicle, users should update the firmware to see if there are any new tuning maps available. This should help make the install a breeze.

I'd recommend this product to anyone with just N/A bolt-ons that have no intention of going FI or doing any full built internal work to the motor.
