Disc brake pads and rotors are wear items and as such, should be inspected regularly and replaced as necessary. Read More.

StopTech Cryo-SportStop Drilled Rotors are cryogenically treated for durability and extra strength. Manufactured using QS and ISO Quality System Standards, quality and performance are ensured.

With an internal vane structure identical to stock rotors, the one-piece StopTech Cryo-SportStop Drilled Rotor is a direct replacement rotor that fits Original Equipment calipers. Its drilled design helps remove unwanted debris between the pad and disc resulting in increased bite and improved stopping power. This same drilled look for rear brakes can help match the aesthetics of a front big brake kit, too.

Rotor longevity, abrasive wear-resistance and strength are ensured via StopTech's deep cryogenic process. Cooled to -300 degrees F and then slowly returned to room temperature, the process permanently and dramatically affects the metal structure inhibiting internal oxidation and increasing thermal fatigue resistance. Cryogenically treated rotors can last up to three times as long as untreated rotors.

Features

  • Premium black E-coating finish to combat corrosion on the rotor hat and between the cooling vanes
  • Cryogenically treated to greatly enhance durability
  • Castings have important O.E. details including extractor and set screw holes
  • Superior cooling fin designs
  • Double disc ground finish
  • 100% fully machined finish including rotor hats
  • 100% inspected and mill-balanced
  • Lateral runout held to 0.002" or less

StopTech Cryo-SportStop Drilled Rotors' finish helps prevent glazing of the pads to improve dry/wet braking performance. All rotors are finished with durable black E-coating on the non-swept areas to prevent unsightly corrosion, as well.

E-Coating Advantages

  • Uniform coating thickness over all areas including sharp corners, recesses and areas that would be hard to reach with spray painting

  • Approximately 95% utilization of paint with no overspray, drip or drain losses
  • Complete paint coverage – no touchup ever required

The van was a surveillance vehicle used in private investigations. More often than not we have to drive hard and the brakes take a severe beating. The OE setup would fail to hold up immediately. The rotors would take on pad material and shake the wheel in your hands. If we could not remedy it we would have to sell it off.
We tried several combinations and Ceramic pads (did not come from the factory with ceramics) did not take well at all. The van was not designed for the abuse we put it through.
The long story short is we spoke to Raybestos about our woes and were recommended the advanced tech pads.
We then went with these StopTech Cryo Drilled rotors and WoW! We could not hardly make them fade under very hard braking. Even on interstate steep decline off-ramps where we had to get off fast and stop they performed.
The Pro s- Can take a severe beating as tested with non-ceramic pads.
The Con s - You cannot find a shop to resurface them. At 18k miles we were ecstatic and wanted to resurface them but no go. But for what we used them for the purchase of new rotors and pads were worth it.
The pads dusted like crazy but are not the subject of review here. Killer Rotors!

Not sure if it s the ceramic pads or the rotors, but I expected a little noise during the break-in period which never went away. Incredible amount of dust collecting as well. Extremely loud when braking at any speed over 40 mph. (Considerably louder at higher speeds and more extreme braking conditions.) After one year (approx. 10,000 miles of mostly short daily commutes and bi-weekly Autobahn driving at speeds averaging 100-120mph) took the car in for an overall inspection (un-related exhaust issue) and found out the front rotors are shot. Rear rotors are still okay considering the lesser burden, but are starting to show signs of grooving. Since I can t pinpoint the problem to the rotor OR the pads, I ll play it safe and purchase neither next time.
