The VanContact A/S Ultra is Continental's Highway All-Season tire developed for the drivers of vans, delivery trucks and multi-purpose vehicles that transport heavy loads. Available in heavy-duty, Euro-metric Commercial Vehicle sizes (designated by the suffix C, not to be confused with LT-metric Load Range C), the VanContact A/S Ultra is designed to deliver long life and comfort year-round, even while hauling heavy loads, in addition to providing dependable handling on dry and wet roads. The VanContact A/S Ultra is an all-weather tire, having met industry severe snow service requirements sufficient to qualify for the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.
The VanContact A/S Ultra features an all-season compound augmented with functionalized polymers for longer wear and better rolling resistance across a wide range of temperatures. This compound is molded into a directional pattern with an optimized tread profile to help resist uneven wear and extend mileage. Circumferential grooves and full-depth lateral slots evacuate water to reduce hydroplaning, and Smart 3D Siping delivers the biting edges needed for traction in slippery conditions while maintaining stability of the tread blocks. Snow Catchers molded into the grooves not only trap snow for better snow-to-snow traction in the winter, but provide additional strength for the tread blocks for increased mileage.
The VanContact A/S Ultra's internal structure consists of a two-ply polyester cord body for dependable ride quality and strength. Two wide steel belts sit atop the casing and are reinforced by a polyamide cap ply, enhancing handling, durability and stability at highway speeds.
Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.
